Summer Library Program 2010
June 8 - August 15
Sign-up begins June 8. Choose from the following programs:
5K-6th Grade Reading Program
Students entering 5-year-old kindergarten through sixth grade record time spent reading or titles read and are rewarded with prizes. Guidelines and reading logs are available at the library and on-line. Sign-up begins June 8. Come to the library or visit www.saukcitylibrary.org. At registration, children are invited to participate in the “Design a Fish” and “Name the Frogs” contests. Weekly contests will also be held.
Free Entertainment
Tuesdays, June 15-July 20 there are free events designed for children 5K-6th grade. No registration is required. Most programs will begin in the lower level and are from 1-2PM. Find schedules at the library and on-line.
Grady the Literacy Dog
Grady the Chocolate Labrador will be here Tuesday afternoons June 15 through July 20 to listen to children read. Sign-up begins June 8 for
10-minute slots.
Ravenous Readers Book Club for Kids 8-12
Sign-up at the library, check out the book-of-the-month, read it at home, and then come to the library for 1 hour one Wednesday afternoon per month for a fun discussion and activities related to the book. Check the library or on-line for titles and dates.
Family Programs

July 23-Aug. 13: "Free Friday Flicks" Children's movies
will play at 1PM.

Merrimac Summer Library Program
1-2PM Wednesdays, June 16-July 21 at the Merrimac Village Hall.
Programs are designed for elementary age children. Older students are encouraged to attend as volunteers. Stop in or call the library for details.
Programs for the Rest of the Family
Preschool Read-to-Me Program
Adults or older children read to the preschoolers in order for the preschooler to earn prizes. Register and obtain blank read-to-me slips at the library or on-line.
Storytime
Mondays at 10:00, Tuesdays at 10:00, and Wednesdays at 9:15 children who have not yet attended kindergarten join Mary Zenker for a variety of stories, songs and simple crafts during 40-minute sessions in the lower level storytime room. Programs will run June 14-July 21.
Teen Summer Read Program
Students entering sixth through twelfth grades enter their names once for every hour they read in order to win the drawing of their choice. Each week, one lucky reader will win a prize such as a Barnes and Noble gift card. In addition, each student will earn a prize after reading for 2 hours. Stop at the library for details.
Adult Reading Program
Adults 18 and over are invited to read or listen to books this summer. No registration is required. Just keep track of the books you read to win prizes donated by local businesses. Find out more details at the library.
