Employment Opportunity: Part-Time Summer Youth Library Assistant
The George Culver Community Library is hiring a part-time, Limited Term Employment (LTE) Summer Youth Library Assistant. We are a community-focused library dedicated to providing our patrons with diverse resources, technology assistance, and top-notch library services. If you are passionate about the library, detail-oriented, and enjoy working with youth, this is the job for you!
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Support the Summer Reading Program; Implement programming for children, infant to teen; collaborate with adult and teen volunteers; develop and maintain youth library collections; create displays and interactive materials, provide reader’s advisory to children, teens, and adults at our public service desk, and other duties as assigned.
Hours and Salary:
This is a part-time Limited Term (240 hours) position during the summer reading program, from Mid-May to Mid-August. This position will work approximately 16 hours a week with a pay rate of $15.00 per hour. May work some weekends, depending on programming schedule.
This position does not qualify for benefits.
Minimum qualifications:
Successful candidates will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to work with young patrons of various ages, and will be creative and collaborative. Completion of a GED or a High School Diploma is required. Previous customer service experience is required.
Completion of two years of college or a Bachelor’s degree, and experience working with youth in an educational setting is preferred.
